This is a map of the charity shops in Edinburgh, as you can see there are quite a few – way more than in Helsinki. Since I’ve been here I’ve visited several already, and must admit that I haven’t been able to resist buying a thing or two…But it’s ok since it is so cheap, right?! And the money goes to charity!
No, I haven’t got a job – but my boyfriend did! He is now a Digital Content Manager, happy days =) This means we can start looking for a flat, in fact we have a viewing in a couple of hours! I will be going there with my boyfriend’s parents so that I’m sure not to miss anything. It is a really nice flat in a nice area, and reasonably priced too. Trying not to get my hopes up though!
I think the best way to get to know a new city is just to go for a walk and get lost. During the past few days I’ve been walking a lot, basically around the whole city (twice). My boyfriend has shown me all the major areas so that I can get an opinion of my own about where to move. I still haven’t seen any ugly parts of Edinburgh so there are many areas I can see myself living in. Anyway, just wanted to share some photos I’ve been taking on my walks so that you can see how pretty it is here!
Ok, this is my go at doing a “restaurant review” post with my not too professional food-photos (thank god for Photoshop). Anyway, last week a good friend of my boyfriend’s treated us to a 4-course dinner at a new restaurant in the Burgh (as the cool kids call Edinburgh): Timberyard
I just have to share my weekend project with the world, because I am so proud of myself 🙂 A friend of mine turned 30 yesterday, and since I wanted to give her something a little more special I decided to make her a dress – with no dressmaking experience…After hours of blood, sweat and tears (and a wee bit of help from my boyfriend’s mum) I present this to you:
As I have mentioned earlier, we are currently staying with my boyfriend’s parents. They live in an area called Stockbridge, which is also an option for us. It’s a very nice, green area with lots of little charity shops and cafes, and also walking distance from the immediate city centre. Me like!
I’ve been to Edinburgh twice before, so I knew pretty much what to expect when moving here a week ago. Everyone goes on and on about how pretty a city it is – which I totally agree with. (Just look at my professional iPhone photos below.)
