Today it’s been exactly 3 years since I packed my bags and moved to London. 3 years in the UK! And how things have changed: I left Finland single and free, only to find myself pram-shopping in John Lewis in Edinburgh 3 years later…But what can I say? I’m grateful to myself for making that crazy decision to quit my Spanish studies at Uni and buy a one way ticket to London without having a job or a flat in sight. Had I not done that I wouldn’t be where I am today. Sometimes it pays off to take the windy road instead of the straight one 🙂
About a month ago, on August 23rd 2014 my second oldest brother got married to his partner and the mother of their two beautiful children – my only niece and nephew so far. All in all it was a day of happiness and family and friends getting together, just like a wedding should be! Here are some of the pics from the day.
Thought I’d write a post about my first trimester, for those of you who are interested in pregnancy stuff and for my own future reference as it will be nice to have something in writing about the pregnancy later on. As I’m writing this half-way through the second trimester (at 20 weeks) we already know the sex of the baby…It’s a little girl!! There’s no way I could keep it to myself, but we’ll try to at least not reveal the name we decide on before the birth! We’re both so excited, and don’t think it’s even sunk in properly yet. Both of our families are more boy-heavy, so a little girl is definitely a welcome addition. 🙂
Last Saturday was really warm, so we decided to go somewhere for the day and spotted the little coastal town of Gullane on Guardian’s top ten list of day trips from Edinburgh. It’s supposed to be less than an hour away from Edinburgh, but the journey there took us around 1,5 hours – the bus ride back was a lot quicker though.
Every now and then I get really frustrated when I can’t buy certain Finnish food items in the supermarkets here. Even more so now when I’m pregnant for some reason. I also think the fact that my last visit to Finland (before our holiday last August) was as long as 8 months ago made me crave these foods even more than usual. So I made sure I stuffed my face during my visit, resulting in me missing them even more having just come back…:/ Hope it’ll pass soon!
It’s been a while…2,5 months to be exact! I guess I had a bit of a blogging holiday, but there is a reason behind why…Not sure how to reveal big news on a blog, so will just bluntly say it: we’re having a baby in February!! Yup, we’re going to be parents – still don’t think I’ve quite realised what I’ve actually gotten myself into. But we’re both very happy and find it hard to wait another 5 months until we’ll get to meet the little one. We already got given some lovely baby clothes by a friend in Finland, thank you Diana & Pete! Can’t believe he or she will actually fit into these tiny clothes though…
