We go to the Botanics all the time – it’s near our house and such a beautiful place to hang out in. So when the opportunity came to enjoy our favourite Edinburgh green space after dark, enhanced by lights and music, I obviously had to go! Botanic Lights is an event that takes place in the Botanic Garden from the 13th October to 6th of November where visitors follow a magical trail of light through the gardens.
We’ve been married for a week now and everything has changed. Nah, just kidding 😛 Everything is the same, apart from that our little family just feels even more whole now – very hard to explain…It’s definitely going to be difficult (and strange) to remember to say husband though! Anyway, thought I’d share my outfit from the night of my wedding.
A couple of days ago I took part in the Great City Swap – a new campaign led by Scottish train company Scotrail that encourages residents of Edinburgh and Glasgow to swap their hometowns for the day. According to research only around 30% of residents in Edinburgh and Glasgow travel to the other city for leisure – which doesn’t sound like a lot to me considering that it’s only a 50-minute train journey that separates the cities! Although I am a bit ashamed to admit that I’ve lived in Edinburgh for 3,5 years and only visited Glasgow properly once…You can read about it here.
So last Friday Matthew and I got married. Surprise!! Only our families and a few friends knew this was happening. We didn’t decide to keep it all a secret – we somehow just kept postponing the reveal for various different reasons, until it just made more sense to get married and then tell everyone.
I’ve been meaning to do a blog post about this lovely shop at the bottom of Broughton Street for ages – but it actually makes more sense to do it now, in the midst of my ‘decorating our new home’-frenzy! Life Story is a lifestyle shop that sells lots of cool stuff you NEED for your home by several Scandinavian and Scandi-inspired designers. There is no end to the Scandi-boom!
There’s been a lot going on lately with moving house, travelling, arguing about stupid things, painting and a bunch of other stuff I won’t talk about here – so I haven’t had the time or energy to update the blog as much. Which is a shame as I feel there’s so much I’d like to share here! Anyway, I thought painting the whole flat would be a fairly quick thing to do, and I guess it could’ve been without Lana…But hey, we’ll get things done eventually! Yesterday I finally unpacked the last boxes, so that felt good.
Last week we welcomed some friends from Finland who came to stay with us for 3 nights – and it was so nice to be able to offer them a room to stay in now that we’ve moved to a bigger place! Lana also really enjoyed having her 11-month old friend here and kept asking for “baby” that she called him for days after they left haha.
I was delighted when I was asked if I want to sample the new menu at Chaophraya on Castle Street – partly because I’ve been there before and know how nice the food is and partly because who says no to thai food?! So yesterday Matthew and I took a break from the never-ending painting and enjoyed a luxurious three-course Thai lunch with cocktails – not something you do every weekend when you have kids!
