A (nother) Year To Remember

Winter Sunset in Edinburgh
Sunset in Edinburgh. I love the chimneys against the sky – you’ll find them on most houses here.

Awrite! (Scottish for ‘hi’)

As the Christmas holiday is becoming just a distant memory and everyday life taking over again it’s starting to sink in that we’ve entered year 2014. When thinking back about last year, I realise that, once again, it’s been a year of changes. I like change, which might be a reason I, since I turned 18, haven’t stayed in the same place, school or job for a long period of time. 2013 was no different.

Happy New Year 2014!!!

Hope you’ve all had the chance to have a relaxing holiday and recharge your batteries for the new year. I’ve had a great (and extremely lazy) two weeks off work – which I had to pay for this morning when I dragged myself out of bed at 8 am only to spend the entire day in a zombiesque state. The fact that it’s Monday and it’s been raining the whole day didn’t make things better. Today is apparently the most depressing day of the year – totally agree!!

My First Christmas Cake

Posted on

I wanted to contribute to the Christmas meal someway, and as I’ve managed to bake decent things in the past I decided to give baking a Christmas cake a go – although Matthew was afraid I would ruin Christmas.

Winter Fashion Likes

I confess; I’ve been spending time on Pinterest again…And here’s the result – a collection of styles and items I like this winter. I really, really like that golden midi-dress in the middle and thought it would be perfect for NYE – but it’s nowhere to be found. Typical.

Weekend Fun

Hey folks!

Hope everyone’s had a good weekend! My weekend somehow just whizzed by at the speed of light – again. On Saturday we celebrated Matthew’s parents’ 32nd anniversary as well as his dad’s birthday with a long lunch at La P’tite Folie. (It was such a nice lunch that I completely forgot to take photos.)

Decorated Christmas Tree

Here she finally is – our beloved Christmas tree! She’s had to endure the cold and rain in our backyard since October, but thankfully she survived, greener than ever, so we could  put her in a corner and bling her up. Not bad for a first Christmas tree, right? I wish we could keep her throughout the winter, she just lights up the room and makes it feel homier. Pretty sure Matthew won’t let me though…

Edinburgh Christmas Market

Hello everyone!

Last Saturday we decided to defy the sea of people and venture into the Edinburgh Christmas Market in Prince Street Gardens to soak up some of the Christmas spirit. However, the place was packed (even more so than the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park in London last year) so we gave up pretty quickly and went to Matthew’s folks for dinner, some vino tinto and chilling in front of a log fire instead! I managed to snap a few photos though – how beautiful isn’t that pink sunset?!

Hello!

Every now and then (especially when it’s cold and dark outside) I find myself looking at the photos from the year and a half long trip I did with three friends back in 2007-2009. We spent around five months travelling in Russia, China and South East Asia, a year working and travelling in Australia and another couple of months or so travelling in Fiji, New Zealand, Mexico, New York and last but not least London. (Who knew three of us would find ourselves living in London two years later?!)
