Last Saturday we had a few friends over for dinner. This group has been very difficult to get around the same table as no one ever seems to be in the same city or country – but we finally did it and we had a blast! I didn’t think it was going to be THAT much work cooking for 8 people, but somehow we didn’t manage to get our starter on the table until closer to 10pm! I have a lot more respect for the people that go on Come dine with me and fail now haha.
So instead of going out for a meal or drinks for our work Christmas night out my boss came up with something a bit more creative for out little team. We were going to a Christmas wreath workshop by the lovely ladies at Pyrus Botanicals! I love creating things with my own hands, so I was really looking forward to it.
I had such a nice, relaxing Saturday that I just have to share it with you. There was a few things I needed to do for work (perfect excuse to get some me-time) and since the sun was out and I had my camera with me it quickly turned into a photo tour of the Old Town…Matthew took Lana swimming so they were enjoying themselves as well!
Sorry guys, another post about interior design stuff coming up! (And more tips on where to shop beautiful handcrafted pieces here in Edinburgh and online…) As you might know I’m a huge fan of Nordic design – which possibly has something (or a lot) to do with my “Finnishness”. I don’t know if it was my late grandmother’s oriental rug that now adorns our living room floor, but I find the combination of modern, sleek Scandi vibes and colourful, expressive Middle Eastern designs quite attractive. Hence I naturally went and bought a Moroccan pouffe!
We’ve been married for a week now and everything has changed. Nah, just kidding 😛 Everything is the same, apart from that our little family just feels even more whole now – very hard to explain…It’s definitely going to be difficult (and strange) to remember to say husband though! Anyway, thought I’d share my outfit from the night of my wedding.
I’ve been meaning to do a blog post about this lovely shop at the bottom of Broughton Street for ages – but it actually makes more sense to do it now, in the midst of my ‘decorating our new home’-frenzy! Life Story is a lifestyle shop that sells lots of cool stuff you NEED for your home by several Scandinavian and Scandi-inspired designers. There is no end to the Scandi-boom!
There’s been a lot going on lately with moving house, travelling, arguing about stupid things, painting and a bunch of other stuff I won’t talk about here – so I haven’t had the time or energy to update the blog as much. Which is a shame as I feel there’s so much I’d like to share here! Anyway, I thought painting the whole flat would be a fairly quick thing to do, and I guess it could’ve been without Lana…But hey, we’ll get things done eventually! Yesterday I finally unpacked the last boxes, so that felt good.
Last week we welcomed some friends from Finland who came to stay with us for 3 nights – and it was so nice to be able to offer them a room to stay in now that we’ve moved to a bigger place! Lana also really enjoyed having her 11-month old friend here and kept asking for “baby” that she called him for days after they left haha.
