I think my birthday dinner was so exquisite that it deserves a blog post of its own. We had around 8 courses all-together, that’s pretty much 4 more courses than I’ve ever had at one sitting. And we had amazing wines with every course too (in hindsight I don’t understand how I was able to drink goon when living in Australia!). The award winning hotel restaurant at Monachyle Mhor is renown among foodies, and many travel to the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands just to eat at the restaurant.
First of all I have some good news; my little nephew finally arrived last Saturday, can’t wait to meet him! Have to wait a couple of months though, until we go to Finland again 🙁 We decided to celebrate Christmas here (partly because the flights were so expensive) and New Year in Finland, so this will be my first British Christmas 🙂 If anyone knows of any New Year parties in Porvoo or Helsinki do let me know!
It had to be my time to turn 30 at some point, and now it’s finally happened. But who cares?! I feel like 20 and still get asked for ID almost every time I buy alcohol (believe it or not) so maybe turning 30 isn’t that bad after all! And I do feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin than I did when I was 20, so wouldn’t go back even if I could. I actually mean it!
I’ve been missing the sea lately, so although the weather wasn’t great we took the train to North Berwick yesterday. It’s a lovely little coastal town only a 30-minute train ride from Edinburgh. It was low-tide when we were there, so it was perfect for some rockpooling. All we found was a drowned crab, lots of smaller crab carcasses and a few living ones. Plus a couple of golf balls from the nearby course (that we took home with us).
