I started reading a book in Spanish the other day, and for some reason it got me reminiscing about the summer I spent in Barcelona with my friend – working in an Indian restaurant…So why not do a wee blog post about it?!
When the November darkness and rains prevail it’s nice to dig into some summer memories. This will be another TBT post, this time from our short stay at a friend’s summer cottage on an island in the beautiful Finnish archipelago. There was a proper 40-day heatwave in Finland last summer, but we arrived literally the day it ended. The weather was still comfortably warm (especially when you compare it to Scottish summer weather…), so we had a lovely sunny stay on the island anyway. Unfortunately I didn’t take many photos, and the ones I took were with my iPhone, so these will have to do!
As I’ve mentioned, we spent around 10 days in Finland last August, so I thought I’d finally share a few photos from the trip – mainly of my niece and nephew, so stop reading now if you’re not that into children! As these two rug rats’ parents were busy organising a wedding, we got to babysit them quite a lot – which both Matthew and I enjoyed very much. Plus it’s good practice I guess (although I had to do all the diaper changing, hmpf.)
Hello from a sunny Edinburgh!
It was almost a year ago since I moved to Edinburgh from London, and only now did I visit for the first time – it had been way too long if you ask me! It was so nice to be back, and I instantly felt like home and as I hadn’t left at all. Must confess I have missed the London buzz!
Happy New Year 2014!!!
Hope you’ve all had the chance to have a relaxing holiday and recharge your batteries for the new year. I’ve had a great (and extremely lazy) two weeks off work – which I had to pay for this morning when I dragged myself out of bed at 8 am only to spend the entire day in a zombiesque state. The fact that it’s Monday and it’s been raining the whole day didn’t make things better. Today is apparently the most depressing day of the year – totally agree!!
Every now and then (especially when it’s cold and dark outside) I find myself looking at the photos from the year and a half long trip I did with three friends back in 2007-2009. We spent around five months travelling in Russia, China and South East Asia, a year working and travelling in Australia and another couple of months or so travelling in Fiji, New Zealand, Mexico, New York and last but not least London. (Who knew three of us would find ourselves living in London two years later?!)
