The dress I made for myself recently was a fail – so I was very happy when Lana’s dress turned out great! I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty damn proud to have made this pinafore dress with my own hands. There’s something really nice about being able to say to Lana that mamma made her dress herself! To show her that not everything has to be bought in a shop. Lana told the Sainsbury’s delivery guy that her mum made her a dress so I think she likes it haha.
I ordered the fabric all the way from Finland, it’s a print by Nosh Organics. Lana has a dress by Nosh already, and I’ve been so impressed by the quality of the organic cotton that I wanted the same for Lana’s dress. I’m going to make Maya the same dress from the same fabric as well. I’m also going to make Lana another one, without the bib part in the front and with the same fabric I used for my dress.
The pattern is by Jilly Atlanta on Etsy, and I can highly recommend it. Jilly even emailed me after I bought the pattern to say she’s happy to help if needed. But the instructions were so easy to follow that I didn’t need to get in touch – I honestly think pretty much anyone could do it if you put your mind to it!
I made the dress a size bigger (for 4-year-olds), so it’s a bit loose still. Lana wasn’t too keen on a photo shoot, but I managed to get a few decent shots of her wearing the dress…
What do you think?
