It’s the Small Things

This morning I took Lana to a local playgroup with only wooden toys that she likes going to. Today was not her lucky day though as she got scratched in the face by a little girl and then by a little boy and we ended up leaving the playgroup with a Lana who looked like she’d been in a fight. Kids can be so brutal! Luckily she didn’t seem too phased about the whole thing (I on the other hand felt like slapping the two kids)!

After the playgroup we headed to the Nordic Affär shop in Leith to buy some vegan Oatly iKaffe I found out they had in stock the other day. I’ve been waiting for it to appear on the supermarket shelves for ages without any luck, so finding it in Nordic Affär made me really happy 🙂

For those of you who don’t know what it is it’s Swedish oat milk that you can froth, especially designed to have with coffee. As other unsweetened milk alternatives don’t taste great with coffee and don’t froth this is a unique product!

After picking up three litres of the stuff and some rye bread my friend took me to the most amazing bakery on Albert Street called the Sicilian Pastry Shop. Everything looked so delicious but I restrained myself and only got a sandwich and a couple of rum truffles. When I got home and tried the truffles I got the best surprise; they taste just like a Finnish thing called “potato” pastry – which I’ve loved ever since I was a kid! Heaven.

I got home and put a dead tired Lana down for her nap and sat down to eat my truffle (ok I confess: I ate them both) and have my iKaffe coffee whilst reading my new book about the gut. Today I learned how pooing actually works. Fascinating stuff!
