Kilted for a Wedding Ceilidh

Posted on

Found these photos on my phone and thought they were too cute not to share! Matthew and Lana were matching at the wedding of one of Matthew’s best friends recently, so that obviously had to be commemorated (can you use the word in this context??) on camera!

I find the Scottish tradition of wearing kilts very attractive and very masculine even though it really is just a pleated skirt haha. I’m not a fan of tartan generally, but in a kilt it’s nice. Did you know that the kilt can consist of up to 8 yards (7,3 metres according to google) of fabric? No wonder they’re so damn heavy.

Lana’s taken posing to a whole new level in these shots – just look at the positioning of her hands and feet haha! I realised after dressing her that she looked just like a boy, but as there was no little tartan dress available we just rolled with it. She did get upset when I put on a pink tulle skirt and wanted to wear one of her tutus as well, but Matthew bribed her with a sweetie like you do.

The wedding/ceilidh (a social event with Scottish folk music and traditional dancing) was a success and Lana really enjoyed running around with the other kids whilst Maya was being passed around.

That’s the lovely French bride Anne in the photo above. I’m about to leave with the kids – hence the coat! It was a lovely taxi-ride home with Maya crying so much the driver asked if he should pull over. But I told him not to and we eventually got home with a purple-faced and very distressed Maya…
