Lana’s Moomin Birthday Cake

I proudly present to you Lana’s first birthday cake – that I made myself! Must say I’m very pleased with it, especially since it was my first attempt at a fondant cake. We celebrated Lana’s first birthday yesterday, and the guests said it tasted nice too – although extremely sweet.

It’s a 10 egg butter sponge cake with raspberry jam and pink buttercream inside, covered with turquoise sugar paste and flowers I cut out myself as well. And a Moomin troll of course! I was adamant that Lana would have a Moomin cake as it would represent Lana’s other home country, Finland.

I had to try it myself although I’m trying to avoid sugar, and I can assure you that it was super sweet – a true sugar bomb! I could just feel the sugar rush immediately, probably because I had abstained from sugar all week.

I forgot to take a photo of the inside, and can’t do it anymore as we donated the rest of the cake to the lovely staff at Hemma (the venue where the party was held). Will post some photos of the party soon. Have a lovely Sunday everyone!
