Life Story – One of My Favourite Edinburgh Shops

lifestory edinburgh shop

I’ve been meaning to do a blog post about this lovely shop at the bottom of Broughton Street for ages – but it actually makes more sense to do it now, in the midst of my ‘decorating our new home’-frenzy! Life Story is a lifestyle shop that sells lots of cool stuff you NEED for your home by several Scandinavian and Scandi-inspired designers. There is no end to the Scandi-boom!

The shop has been around for approximately 3 years, but somehow I only discovered it a few months back. I have no idea how on earth that is possible. Or actually – maybe I’ve just been busy being pregnant and looking after a baby/toddler the past couple of years?!

Anyway, in Life Story you can shop products buy several Danish brands, such as Hay, Ferm Living, House Doctor & Hubsch (why are Danes so good at interior design, and design in general?!). There are a couple of tables too at the back of the shop if you want to sit down for a cup of coffee and a raw cake by Grams. You’ll also find edgy and cool jewellery by London-based Wolf & Moon and Chalk. Plus loads more as you will see from my photos below:

I don’t seem to be able to enter this shop without buying something, but I’m sure you can see why! I think this is where I realised that I need a rattan chair in my life – which according to Matthew won’t be comfortable…But who cares if it’s comfy or not as long as it looks pretty?! (I think I might’ve bought a chair already…don’t tell Matthew!) This is also where I discovered House Doctor, where you can buy reasonably priced Danish design for your home – love it! In the UK you can buy their products (and products by lots of other Scandi designers too) on (a wee tip for you there…)

I’d love to know where you like to shop for your home?

I’m a Swedish-speaking Finn who left Finland for the lovely and thrilling London town in 2011, but after meeting an equally lovely and thrilling Scotsman I somehow now find myself in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. In February 2015 our gorgeous little girl arrived and made us a happy family of three. Follow my blog and get to know us!

Fint ställe! Och ja, danskarna tycks faktiskt vara kreativa. Det finns ju hur många fina danska klädmärken som helst också.

That shop makes you want to just go out and buy a flat. I think Matthew forgot that he thinks that bar chairs (round, small, high, shaky, no back support), are comfortable, since he said that a rattan chair is not comfy…
