Mmm, Strawberries!

On my to do-list for this summer in Finland is to eat and pick as many berries as possible – including the queen of berries: strawberries. So to stick to my list we went to a farm near Porvoo (Uljaan tila) where you can pick your own strawberries and then pay by weight.

The best thing about picking your own berries, apart from the fact that it’s cheaper, is that you can eat as much as you like while you pick! I think I actually managed to eat more than I picked 🙂 Our catch was almost 5 kg between us, so enough to freeze a fair bit. This was quite a small and sweet variety, in case you’re wondering why they look so small!

We had two little supervisors who made sure we were picking the best berries.

Great that you are able to enjoy some Finnish harvest. I always plan to go and pick strawberries as well but then I get so much other berries either from the woods or from our own bushes, that there I neither stomach space nor freezer space for strawberries. I send some pics of my berry saldo…
