New Job Celebration at ‘The Little Madness’

PetitFolie

No, I haven’t got a job – but my boyfriend did! He is now a Digital Content Manager, happy days =) This means we can start looking for a flat, in fact we have a viewing in a couple of hours! I will be going there with my boyfriend’s parents so that I’m sure not to miss anything. It is a really nice flat in a nice area, and reasonably priced too. Trying not to get my hopes up though!

The good news called for a celebration, so we decided to treat ourselves to dinner at La P’tite Folie (The Little Madness) in the heart of the city. The restaurant provides traditional French cuisine and has an old-fashioned interior as well, so don’t really know what the ‘madness’ stands for…

For my starter I had grilled asparagus with toasted almonds, truffle oil and parmesan cheese while my boyfriend had a huge bowl of mussels in a white wine cream. My starter was ok but nothing I will remember forever. The mussels were nice according to my boyfriend (I still can’t bring myself to try them) but there were just too many of them!

For a main I had sole on a bed of herb mashed potatoes and green beans. This was the first time I tried sole, and must say I wouldn’t mind having it again. It has a very non-fishy flavour and there was no trace of bones. To me it tasted a bit like the maize porridge we used to have at school when I was a kid(!) Don’t know if there’s something wrong with my taste buds…My boyfriend had rack of lamb that he enjoyed but didn’t find to be anything out of the ordinary.

For dessert we “shared” a piece of lemon cheesecake with a raspberry coulis. Very rich but light at the same time. As you can see I quite liked it.

Service was friendly but a little rushed as the place seemed to be slightly understaffed. (If you’re wondering why there are no people in the photo it’s because I took it after everyone had already left and we were the last people there. As we usually are.)

In conclusion it was a cosy and romantic little place with an enjoyable atmosphere and ok food.

Better get ready for the flat viewing, wish me luck!
