First of all I have some good news; my little nephew finally arrived last Saturday, can’t wait to meet him! Have to wait a couple of months though, until we go to Finland again 🙁 We decided to celebrate Christmas here (partly because the flights were so expensive) and New Year in Finland, so this will be my first British Christmas 🙂 If anyone knows of any New Year parties in Porvoo or Helsinki do let me know!
It had to be my time to turn 30 at some point, and now it’s finally happened. But who cares?! I feel like 20 and still get asked for ID almost every time I buy alcohol (believe it or not) so maybe turning 30 isn’t that bad after all! And I do feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin than I did when I was 20, so wouldn’t go back even if I could. I actually mean it!
When I first moved up to Edinburgh I really thought that it would be supereasy to just pop down to London for a weekend or so, but I soon realised that it is easier said than done. Train tickets are ridiculously expensive if you want to travel at a decent time (or any other time for that matter), and a 4,5-5 hour train-ride isn’t really my idea of a good time either. Flying is another possibility, but having done that it is almost even more of a hassle than taking the train.
I was trying to come up with a pun for the title, but can’t think of anything…As you might’ve guessed already, this post will be about a thing British people really seem to love: puns. I guess English, with its inconsistency between spoken and written language, is perfect for producing puns. (Btw, ‘The Elephant House’ is not a pun, it’s one of the cafes where J.K.Rowling wrote Harry Potter. Just chucked it in there to confuse you.)
I don’t know if it’s because I hadn’t been to Helsinki for a year and therefore was seeing it through new eyes, but it was sooo nice to be back this summer, and the city has never looked so beautiful. I had really been looking forward to showing the city I (more or less) lived in from the age of 19 to 28 to Matthew. He seemed to appreciate Helsinki and kept going on about how good-looking the people were. I completely agree 🙂
Yet another week has gone by so quickly that it almost scares me…
Anyhoo, work is getting busier every day as the company keeps growing at a speed so fast that we’re running out of desks to sit at. We’ve gotten quite a few new clients on board lately which is a good thing, but can soon make us swamped with work unless we get more new people. Our client base is really varied, I do online marketing stuff for companies that sell shoes, energy chewing gum, cleaning services, garden rooms, storage space, IT services, jewellery, pest control services, promote wedding bands etc.
