Yesterday we decided to visit the little coastal town Lovisa with my parents. It’s one of those charming, slow-paced and very instagrammable little Finnish towns with old wooden houses in the prettiest colours. There are only around 15 000 inhabitants, so it’s even smaller than my home town Porvoo with just over 50 000 people.
I think it’s time for another sister snapshot blog as it’ been a couple of months since the last one. We moved to Finland 10 days ago, but so far I haven’t really noticed that it would’ve made a difference in the girls’ behaviour – but who knows what will happen in the coming months! Anyway, here are a few things that come to mind when I think about my babies now.
We’ve been in Finland for a week now, and with the girls’ sleep routines being disrupted due to the two hour time difference we’ve been quite tired and haven’t had much time to ourselves. We’ve also needed some time to recover from all the stress of packing and moving and haven’t really had the energy to socialise yet – but we’ve done stuff with the kids, such as visited the pretty Rhododendron Park in Helsinki you can see in the photos.
Most people like to drink coffee in the morning, and although I was never a big fan of coffee I finally learned to like it when I was well into my twenties and living in Melbourne where it isn’t hard to find a decent latte! However, it turns out I’m very sensitive to caffeine and drinking it makes my heart beat uncomfortably fast, keeps me up at night and even makes me feel anxious.
I just realised that I haven’t told you guys that we’re moving next week! On Monday or Tuesday our stuff will get picked up and driven all the way to Helsinki and on Thursday we’ll get on a flight to Finland. We were going to wait until the papers for selling our flat were signed, but since no one seems to know when exactly that will be happening we just went ahead and booked our flights!
It’s been a loooong time since I’ve done an Outfit Of The Day post, for obvious reasons. I’m still not back to my pre-Maya body, but slowly starting to feel more and more like my old self – and feeling more confident. This has also resulted in me buying a few new pieces for my wardrobe, such as the culotte trousers I’m wearing and the rattan bag.
I get invites to events every now and then, but haven’t been to one in a while since I haven’t really wanted to leave Maya in the evening yet. But when I got invited to Jan De Vries Health Food Store for a blogger evening I had to say yes as it was right up my street. So I asked my friend Olli who runs the @myEdinburgh Instagram account to join me and told Matthew he had to get the girls to bed on his own and headed out for a healthy evening.
