I get invites to events every now and then, but haven’t been to one in a while since I haven’t really wanted to leave Maya in the evening yet. But when I got invited to Jan De Vries Health Food Store for a blogger evening I had to say yes as it was right up my street. So I asked my friend Olli who runs the @myEdinburgh Instagram account to join me and told Matthew he had to get the girls to bed on his own and headed out for a healthy evening.
The weather today has been glorious, but I can’t say I’ve been able to enjoy it properly because of all the drama that happened…It was Matthew’s sister’s baby shower (in pink below) and me and the girls were invited to Morningside to her in-laws’ place for a lovely brunch in the sun. It was so warm no tights were needed and hairy legs could see the sun for the first time in a long while!
Before we had Maya everybody kept telling me that the second child is so much less stressful, and that is exactly how it’s been. It’s been a sheer joy to look after Maya and I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing it is to have a little baby again, a baby who’s always giving you the biggest smiles and who lights up when you walk into the room. She is the best.
Life lately has consisted of cleaning the house over and over again and doing closer to 30 viewings in a week – with more booked in. I feel like a broken record just repeating the same things over and over again to all the people coming to view the house. But we’re very pleased that it’s been so popular and it’s been nice to speak to so many lovely young people who are looking to get on the property ladder. In fact, one of the first viewers was a Finnish woman!
I never thought I’d be writing this blog post so soon…But I am…So, life has been pretty hectic lately and there are some very BIG CHANGES looming. I’m just going to blurt it out: we are moving to Finland!!! Yup. To my homeland. Probably very soon. Like in May! It’s crazy times and even though we’ve been talking about moving for years the decision to move now came very quickly.
The dress I made for myself recently was a fail – so I was very happy when Lana’s dress turned out great! I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty damn proud to have made this pinafore dress with my own hands. There’s something really nice about being able to say to Lana that mamma made her dress herself! To show her that not everything has to be bought in a shop. Lana told the Sainsbury’s delivery guy that her mum made her a dress so I think she likes it haha.
Maya has been a different baby ever since her first tooth came through a couple of days ago – she is happy playing on her own and she’s been sleeping and napping so much better. Hallelujah! Last night she only woke me up once, once! It’s funny how Maya got her first tooth exactly at the same age as Lana, at around 5,5 months.
