I know I always complain about the weather here, but I cannot fault the weather we’ve had lately – especially today with temperatures around 20 degrees and bright sunshine! It was so warm that I had to take off my jumper and I even got a bit worried about Lana being too hot in the pram.
I love reading “a photo an hour” blog posts as it gives you more of an honest picture of what the blogger’s life really is like instead of the more “glamourised” posts that don’t really show what goes on behind the scenes 🙂 I thought I’d make one myself as well, even though Matthew thinks it will be the most boring post ever…But I figured that if I love reading about other people’s “boring” every day lives then surely others do too! I tried to snap a photo every hour last Sunday, and this is the result:
Lana usually gets up between 9 and 10am, which means that so do we. She’s usually in a very good mood in the mornings and very generous with her smiles. After some cuddles in bed I usually put her on her beloved playmat where she plays by herself whilst laughing, shrieking and kicking away like there’s no tomorrow.
My favourite breakfast at the moment that I have all the time is banana porridge with coconut and almond flakes – accompanied by berries every now and then. So nice!
Time for some blogging and going through photos from our Finland holiday. As you can see it was another sunny day in the Burgh 🙂
Lana’s loving spending some quality time with daddy, and so is daddy by the looks of it 🙂 (I wish I would’ve gotten rid of those beautiful Alpen and Solero boxes before taking the photo…)
Lunch at Earthy’s in Canonmills – highly recommend if you’re in town! Lana is in a milk coma and I’m having red quinoa, broccoli and feta fritters. Breastfeeding in public is becoming more and more easy and natural for me – yesterday I did it on a bench in the middle of the busy Princes Street Gardens 🙂
A little walk after lunch is always a good idea. I insisted on taking the pram even though Lana’s not a fan of it, and as usual Matthew ended up carrying her. However, during the past two days I’ve taken her out in the pram without no issues whatsoever! She’s just been lying there smiling at me and looking around – really hope this continues as carrying her in the sling does get quite tiring if I want to go for a longer walk.
The aim of our walk was actually to go see the flat above that’s for sale. We’ve started thinking about buying a bigger home here in Edinburgh instead of paying rent into someone else’s pockets, and we want to get an idea of what we want and what we can get by seeing different places. It would be an investment more than anything – my dream is to build my own house with a big garden one day 🙂 The flat above looked a lot nicer in the photos than what it really was – definitely not for us!
On the way home we went to Tesco’s for our weekly shop.
After getting home we had a little skype session with Lana’s grandparents – forgot to take a photo so used one from a previous session with my mum and Lana’s cousins.
Lana hadn’t slept much during the day, which resulted in a not so happy little girl when she got overtired in the evening. She demonstrated her unhappiness for a while, which I just had to take a photo of as it truly shows what our evenings sometimes are like 🙂
After pacing the floors in our flat for some time I finally got her to calm down and even managed to sneak the dummy into her mouth when she didn’t expect it. I’ve been trying to get her to use a dummy for weeks, but she refuses to accept it – so this was a small victory! (A pacifier could relieve the symptoms of reflux and help sooth her when her strong sucking reflex sets in.)
Dinner time! The menu consisted of oven roasted aubergine with tomato, mozzarella and basil, hummus and our new favourite; panzanella salad.
After dinner I made another batch of hummus – it’s good to have as a snack with carrot sticks when I’m busy with Lana during the day.
Yes, we’re also Game of Thrones fans, so the day was finished off with an episode of the new season. Lana fell asleep during the show, so guess it’s not her cup of tea.
That’s it, a typical Sunday in our house, hope it didn’t bore you to death 🙂
