Last Saturday was really warm, so we decided to go somewhere for the day and spotted the little coastal town of Gullane on Guardian’s top ten list of day trips from Edinburgh. It’s supposed to be less than an hour away from Edinburgh, but the journey there took us around 1,5 hours – the bus ride back was a lot quicker though.
It was a lovely town with probably the nicest beach I’ve been to in Scotland so far, so nice that we just had to google how much property there costs…I’d love to live close to a beach and we both appreciated how quiet it was there – plus it seems to be a popular place for families. We’d like to buy a home at some point, so it’s good to see different places and get an understanding of where we can afford and what we even want. Here are just a few photos we took with our iPhones (really need to get a proper camera!).
Pretty red flowers and a small baby bump.
There were sand dunes with loads of paths going through them, can imagine how exciting they are for kids.
There was hardly any wind, so it felt really warm and I would’ve joined the other swimmers had I brought my bikini (that most likely doesn’t fit me anymore on the other hand…)
Matthew’s looking for crabs.
I definitely have a bump at 19 weeks, although Mattthew doesn’t think it’s big enough. To be fair, it’s small enough for me to be able to hide it – at least my boss hasn’t noticed anything yet! Will tell him next week though.
Ignore my weird thumb and just look at the pretty shells.
The dunes were full of sea-buckthorn (that’s what this is right?)
And let’s finish off with a beach selfie.
Very relaxing day altogether. We had lunch at Falko – a German bakery and cafe right in the middle of the town. I had a veggie burger that was really nice and the best one I’ve had in a while. Didn’t try any of the cakes though – can you believe that?!
Very excited for tomorrow; both the scan and the referendum. Exciting times!
