Merry Christmas!

Just want to quickly wish everybody a MERRY CHRISTMAS 2017!! I hope you get to celebrate it with your loved ones and eat good food! This is Maya’s first Christmas and I was adamant we take some family Christmas photos – but little Lana the Dictator wasn’t cooperating and Maya was asleep, so it is what it is. At least we’re all in the photo haha!

Gingerbread Cookie Baking

Baking gingerbread cookies, or pepparkakor in Swedish and piparkakkuja in Finnish, is a Christmas tradition that I love and want to hold on to with Lana – so for the first time I can remember I actually made my own dough and got baking! In Finland you can buy readymade dough that is so nice that there’s no point in making your own…

On Thursday Lana’s about to get on her 13th flight, to Finland via Stockholm once again. The last two weeks before our month-long visit to the land of Santa have been full of activities and unfortunately also full of snot, sneezes and teething pain 🙁 Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Getting Into the Christmas Spirit

I’m starting to get into the Christmas mood and have been asking Matthew when we can get a Christmas tree for weeks now – so we went and got a fake tree yesterday, yay. Haven’t dressed it yet though. This morning we got up early to go to Ikea (you can imagine how happy Matthew was about it) to get a new, big chest of drawers that can double as a changing table and a comfy arm chair for all those baby feeding sessions. And glögg of course, 3 bottles of it! Can’t wait to have some later tonight with almonds and raisins  as it’s traditionally served 🙂 Also got some hyacinths for that distinctive Christmassy smell – not sure if I need to plant them though as they were just bulbs…Anyone?
