Last week we welcomed some friends from Finland who came to stay with us for 3 nights – and it was so nice to be able to offer them a room to stay in now that we’ve moved to a bigger place! Lana also really enjoyed having her 11-month old friend here and kept asking for “baby” that she called him for days after they left haha.
Today I had to visit a place just off the epicentre of the Edinburgh Festival, the Royal Mile, and I couldn’t resist taking Lana to see the street performances and all the madness going on after – even though pushing a buggy in a crowd is not my idea of fun…It wasn’t too bad though and it was worth it as Lana was definitely entertained (and a wee bit confused)!
In a recent blog post I told you about the Rock House InstaMeet that I helped organise a few weeks ago. Well the meet-up didn’t finish at the house, but we were treated to a photo walking tour by a local company called Iconic Tours. I am the first one to admit that there’s so much I don’t know about Edinburgh (and photography!), so I was really looking forward to it!
Pretty much ever since I moved to Edinburgh I’ve been wanting to go on a guided tour in the Old Town, but just never quite made it. We did go on one of those ghost tours in the underground vaults when I was still living in London and only visiting, but we had to interrupt the tour as I thought I was going to faint due to lack of oxygen (and perhaps my hangover had something to do with it too…)
The world’s biggest international arts festival came and went. A month of madness in August when the city’s population triples and public transport becomes annoyingly slow. We spent the first two weeks of August in Finland, so we only took part during the two last weekends. Which was just enough for me.
