Sister Snapshot Vol 2

Posted on

I think it’s time for another sister snapshot blog as it’ been a couple of months since the last one. We moved to Finland 10 days ago, but so far I haven’t really noticed that it would’ve made a difference in the girls’ behaviour – but who knows what will happen in the coming months! Anyway, here are a few things that come to mind when I think about my babies now.

Matthew’s sister sent me a link to this sister snapshot blog post and said it’s something she wants to do when her baby arrives – have I told you that she is pregnant btw?! Lana and Maya will be getting a wee Scottish cousin in June, which we’re all very excited about! Another little girl as well <3

Traumatised For Life

Posted on

I know the headline is a bit dramatic, but that’s truly how I feel after a 10-hour journey with a 2-month and a 2-year old. Don’t know what I was thinking booking a non-direct flight with a two-hour stopover at London Heathrow – but that will NEVER happen again, no matter what it’ll cost me. And actually just yesterday they announced Finnair is going to start flying direct Helsinki-Edinburgh all year round!

My Dictator & Christmas Tree Lover

I don’t know what it is with Lana, but she’s been a real handful lately and I can’t wait for Matthew to get here tonight to share the load – even though I have my parents here to help and I shouldn’t really need it! Today’s been pretty bad; she keeps following me around not wanting to do anything I suggest and saying “NO!” even more than usual…She’s very bossy too and I constantly get ordered to “COME HERE!”. I need a break!

Raising A Princess

Posted on

It hit me today that I’m raising a little woman – or judging by these photos I snapped secretly today (yup, she was so into her performance that she didn’t even notice me) we might have a little princess on our hands. I mean seriously, Lana just turned two and she’s already into Frozen and trying to sing along to ‘Let it go’! (I’m blaming aunty JoJo who bought her an Elsa dress for her birthday haha.) But I have to say it is really damn cute when a 2 year old is copying Elsa in the Let it Go music video – my heart almost melted. So here you go, a silent performance by princess Lana!

2 Years of Being a Mum

My wee crazy-haired frog/ballerina turns two today. Two years have gone by so quickly that I’m worried I’ll wake up one day to Lana being 20 and feeling like she was two only yesterday. Lana is such an explorer that I’m also worried she’ll do what I did and end up living somewhere far away from me when she’s older…I want her to grow up but at the same time I want her to be my little baby girl and stay with me. Always!

A Few Photos from My Phone

I take photos with my phone all the time, but only a few make it to the blog or to Instagram. I share photos on Instagram more or less daily, so if you want to follow me there my handle is @xxnina4xx. Anyway, here are a few of those “lost” photos  from this week!

The End of an Era

Three weeks ago I finally decided it was time to stop breastfeeding. I never thought I would breastfeed for so long, but it became clear to me when Lana was 12 months that it was an unrealistic plan to stop then. Instead I kept going for another 9 months – and all I can say is well done me!!

Time to Say Goodbye (again)

As always, time went extremely fast and our Finland holiday has come to an end. There’s always a lot of mixed feelings involved as I obviously miss Matthew and having our little family intact but feel so at home here in Finland with my family here that I wouldn’t mind staying for longer. Both Lana and I are very comfortable here and she’s enjoying spending time with her mommo and mofa – although she insists on calling them both mommo (granny) 🙂
