Two Buddies

I completely forgot to report back on how Lana and Matthew got on when I was away for three days recently – the first time I’ve been away from Lana overnight. I have to admit that I was a wee bit worried I’d come home to total mayhem: a crying, starving Lana and a completely shattered Matthew, but it became pretty clear to me on our first skype that they were doing just fine without me!

Apparently Lana was a little angel the whole time: she went down extremely well for her naps and in the evening as well – Matthew just put her in her cot and walked out the room without there being a single peep from Lana. Seriously?! It seems like they were actually getting on better without me…

At one point I had to ask Matthew if he’d seen ANY signs at all of Lana missing me, and the answer was just “sorry but no”. Hmpf. I’m glad things went so well, but at the same time it would be nice if my own daughter would care just the tiniest bit that I wasn’t there.

Matthew documented their weekend on his phone – this is what they got up to:

Lana checking the bill isn’t fake when having lunch with Matthew’s friend (Matthew was there too).

Chilling out on the sofa. I have a feeling the TV was on a fair bit during the weekend…

Not sure what’s going on here other than that Lana’s finger should not be in Matthew’s nose.

Matthew decided Lana needed new shoes so they went shoe shopping. Lana wasn’t  impressed.

Maybe she’ll enjoy shoe shopping more in 15 years’ time!

Lana spent some quality time with auntie Jojo.

Skyping with mamma. Just look at Lana’s nonchalant pose!

Lana was driving a fire truck for the first time…

…and daddy let her play with foil.

Matthew saw his opportunity to get Lana’s football career started.

Father and daughter get a bite to eat at the Raeburn on Sunday.

And a very messy dinner that actually stained Lana’s head. Wouldn’t have happened on my watch!

I got back around 9pm on Sunday evening, which meant Lana was already asleep. I really wanted to wake her up just to give her a cuddle, but decided it was a terrible idea. When Lana woke up a few hours later and I picked her up she refused to let go of me for the rest of the night – so maybe she missed me a little bit after all!
