Walkabout

Posted on

Greetings from a very rainy Edinburgh!

I think the best way to get to know a new city is just to go for a walk and get lost. During the past few days I’ve been walking a lot, basically around the whole city (twice). My boyfriend has shown me all the major areas so that I can get an opinion of my own about where to move. I still haven’t seen any ugly parts of Edinburgh so there are many areas I can see myself living in. Anyway, just wanted to share some photos I’ve been taking on my walks so that you can see how pretty it is here!

I’ve been trying to take a nice photo of the castle for two weeks without success, but I feel like the one above does it some justice.

The graveyard and a dork in Princes Street Gardens.

Everything’s going to be alright. My mantra before and after the move on the entry to the National Art Gallery.

The Meadows, one of the major parks in Edinburgh – a Scottish equivalent to London Fields in Hackney. Could imagine myself living close to the park.

Stockbridge, the area where my boyfriend’s parents live. Cute, quiet area close to greenery. (Note that the sun was actually shining!)

Fettes College where Tony Blair went to school (in Stockbridge), one of the more dramatic schools I’ve seen.

Morningside, the former home of J.K. Rowling, and according to my boyfriend, home of many yummy mummies. I liked the area, it seemed quiet and safe and had loads of charity shops. On the downside, it is a bit further away from the centre and more expensive too.

Being unemployed is tough.

Looking forward to getting to know the city better and to get to show it to friends and family! Soon it is time for the Eurovision song contest. It will be especially exciting this year since my boyfriend promised he will move to Finland at some point if we win tonight…:)

Have a great night ya’ll!
